As covered in the last post, Al Harris formally retired as a Green Bay Packer today. Opinions differ on whether there’s really any value in doing this kind of thing. Trevor Hoffman famously turned down an opportunity to retire with the San Diego Padres, an organization he played in for 15 years, after pitching for the Brewers for two seasons.

But it’s interesting to wonder: will the Packers try to do the same thing with Brett Favre as they did with Harris and Ahman Green?

It’s possibly unlikely simply because of the amount of time that has passed – about five years – since Favre was a member of the Packers.

Still, it would be a nice gesture for the fans, and one that would officially bring Favre back to the team and city where he became an NFL legend.

Should Brett Favre formally retire as a Packer?
