Jerry Sloan

Hall of Fame coach Jerry Sloan is considering a return to the sidelines in 2013, and could be looking for a job in a market like Milwaukee, according to Gery Woelfel of the Journal Times. In an interview on WSSP 1250, Woelfel said the following:

“I talked to a couple of friends of Jerry Sloan’s within the past couple of days, he definitely wants to return to coaching, and the other interesting facet is that he wants to coach in the small markets, one similar to Utah, so I think Milwaukee qualifies as that kind of environment,”

While the Bucks would likely be tempted by the prospect of adding a coach with Sloan’s reputation and past success, I’m not sure it makes sense. The organization is in need of a fresh start and a vision for the future, and a 71 year-old coach would not seem to be a step in the right direction. Sloan would make more sense for a team that is close to contending and doesn’t need a lot of time to develop.

That said, if there’s any chance they can land Sloan, the Bucks will likely make a play for him.
