No surprise on either count, but the Packers have released TE Spencer Havner and WR Brett Swain.

Though both are Special Teams aces, the Packers simply don’t have room for either at two of the most crowded positions on the roster. They already have five roster spots locked up at receiver (Greg Jennings, Donald Driver, James Jones, Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb) and it is highly unlikely a sixth will be kept.

At tight end, it’s a four way battle for the spot behind Jermichael Finley between Andrew Quarless, Tom Crabtree and rookies D.J. Williams and Ryan Taylor. This is the second time in as many years the Packers have cut Havner, who played part of last season as a linebacker with the Lions.

Also released was tackle Theo Sherman, who signed as an undrafted free agent.
