Once thought to be out for the season after breaking his collarbone on a diving catch, Brewers center fielder Carlos Gomez has almost finished his rehab assignment with the low A Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.

Gomez will make his third and possibly final start with the club tonight, which you can catch in the Milwaukee viewing area on Time Warner Sports (channel 32, 7 PM).

Despite his much-maligned offense, Gomez’s spectacular defensive ability and serviceable line against left-handed pitchers (.269/.288/.513) made him one half of a very effective center field platoon, along with fan favorite Nyjer Morgan.

In other injury news, second baseman Rickie Weeks recently began running on the field again, says Brewers.com beat writer Adam McCalvy. A timetable for his return is still not known.
